A streetcar named desire

In my opinion, the most sympathetic character is Blanche. She, Blanche, took a streetcar named desire and came to her sister’s house in the New Orleans. She tries to express her appearance using jewelry, clothes, and some accessories because she wants to be look like perfect. Unfortunately, this is not fact. On acquaintance, she is very pity, sad and weak person. She needs someone who can understand her circumstance and is reliable person. Her dream was broken by Stanly who is Blanche’s husband. He raped her during his wife went to hospital for childbirth. Finally, Blanche goes crazy and delivers to a hospital.

In this movie, her desire is very simply which is she wants to be take care of herself by other’s. No matter who he is, it is not important, she needs love. At the beginning of the movie, Blanche told that “Opposite of death is desire” I could not understand this word clearly but, after watching the movie, I could understand a little bit.

On the other hand, Stanly is the least sympathetic character in this movie. He has done everything as he wants. He is representing the man in the 1950’s, wild, hot-tempered, and highly excitalble.

Movie

All of movies have both art and entertainment phases. These are inseperable clearly because it is up to people. Every person have different way of thinking and emotion The director and critics might suggest guideline but, they can not force to think sameway. In my opinion, if you might still sit down and think about the movie which you saw during going up an ending subtitle "what is intention of director in the movie?" or "Why did the actor do that in that scene?" something like that,,,it is some kind of art movies. Otherwise, you can enjoy watching the movie for just fun without any concerning . It is an entertainment movies.

My favorite movie is "August Rush" This is a story of a music prodigy. There are a lot of beautiful, gorgeous, and elegant songs in the movie. This movie shows us "Music is the Universal language" as we learned in class. Most impressive words in the movie is "The music is all around you, all you have to do is listen" which is spoken at the beginning of the movie. If you did not see yet, I strongly recommend this movie!!!

Mann and censorship

I like photos of her family. It is spontaneous process to take the photos during children have grown up. I have never thought those were sexualized or exploitive. Children seemed to enjoy this process. It's very good way to memorize family's history. I mean they can remind their childood easily when they will becoma adults.
When I saw her photos of dog bone, I did not recognized what that was. She has very special point of view than than the other people. These photos can allow us to imagine that whatever we want. There are no limitation of human imagination. Many people have never thought those were dog bone if they listened aboul something about these photos.
She just go somewhere and pick them up whatever. If she take photos, it does not mean that she is interested in those. They just existed there on her way.
Every artists should have freedom of expression. They should share their idea and opinion with the public. Anybody, even the goverment, cannot interfere and obstacle their works.

Presention

First, i apologized for late this post for Jessica and everyone.

It made me very embrassing because I got a lot of pressure to give a presentation very well. My group is the first group in first day. That's why I felt that. We would be compared with whole other groups. However, contrary to expectations we did pretty good. (Just in my opinion)
We choose Madonna's song "Hung Up" We choose this song because we realized that despite it was launched lately, it has a huge influence with 70’s music. It has disco rhythm so, it made our shoulders moving up and down spontaneously. And this lyric also is attractive enough to pay attention our attention.
My classmate seemed to feel interesting about our imitation song and a part of American history "Civil War" It was a good choice because we already had talked about this subject in class before. I want to say my partner Jing and Ivan through this opportunity

Assignment #2 (02/23/2008)

Q) Madonna gained her fame partially by having a risque look and by singing about things like virginity, pregnancy, and money. How do you view her as an artist in relation to Waters and Dylan, some of whose songs are, perhaps, more "serious"?

- She expresses her emotion and idea very directly than Waters and Dylan. No decoration, no exaggeration. Anyone can understand easily what she tried to say. Madonna deals with some specific social issues. On the other hand, Waters and Dylan's songs describe condition that cover the whole field of society and they usually use metaphoric way. Words have another meaning not just have original meaning. So we have to reveal hidden meaning of words. It is not easy for me.

5) Think back to some of the history we learned about today : do you see it reflected in either the lyrics or the musid of the songs? Explain your answer

- Yes, I think that the lyrics or the music of the songs are related to history when they were made. The lyrics express the condition of society or politics. The song used to use the method of protest. A number of people want to protest some improper regulation, but sometimes they don't do any action. Because if they do some action against the goverment it is illegal things and they will be arrested. So, they express their voice and emotion using the song indirectly. It is like paraphrasing things.


6) To be blue or to have the blues means to be sad. Are the blues sad? Explain

- Blues song sounds like sad because of its origin. The characteristic of blues is song and improvised instrument. It changed rhythm and melody depend on the mood. At that time, the black people was repressed. So, they tried to express their sadness, wish and delight in the music. That is why blues is sad.

If you hard to memorize my name, i have no idea :(

Anyway, from now on let me introduce myself.

I am from South Korea and 25 years old male person.

I didn't graduate my university yet....i am still a student in Korea and in here too.

My major is Chemistry, it is ridiculous things.

Even if i have studied for over 3 years, it drives me crazy!!!

I like to go to snowboarding in winter and go to scuba diving in summer.

Also, i know how to do Judo a little bit. I am not good at this just beginner.

I have been here from last September and i will go back to Korea after this session.

I am living at Central square in red line. It takes almost 40 minutes to Umass.

I am trying to improve my english skill because i have to find a job in Korea.

That is why i am here. I will do my best to learn english during the classes.

My goal is speaking english fluently however, I think it is hard for me...

Someday, i hope that I will speak English as native speaker.
